It is tough to be old to be old. It is heartbreaking to be old and poor. Especially when you also have no family, no jobs, and... nobody who really cares . The "logic" for most people (even well intentioned people) its seems is that it is better to help the young who have a whole life in front of them. Makes sense. But again love is not about logic. In the case of helping the old we miss the obvious. THEY ARE HELPING US (not the other way around). It is not about "giving them" a comfortable life for the few days or weeks they have to live, it is about them "GIVING US" the opportunity of creating a small miracle of love by attending to their humanity during their last days.
